ARCA announces new Specialist Interest Group

Asbestos equipment manufacturing & testing companies support initiative

ARCA is pleased to announce the formation of a new specialist interest group to provide a forum for, and a better link between, its Associate Members in the equipment manufacturing and testing sector.

“Earlier this year we sought expressions of interest in establishing this group and the response was excellent,” stated Steve Sadley, Chief Executive of the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association (ARCA). “We held the inaugural meeting last month, with nine companies represented, and discussed the needs of the sector and that the main objective of the group would be to give a voice to this industry sector.”

“The ultimate goal is to provide a forum to bring this industry sector closer to its customers and provide ARCA Members (asbestos removal contractors) with better information, such as, best practice in the selection and use of plant equipment and testing providers.”

First candidate to gain ARCA ILM Qualification

Congratulations to Chris Dobson on being the first candidate to gain the ARCA ILM qualification.

To gain the ARCA ILM Leadership and Management qualification Chris passed all four units (which took the form of classroom sessions and assignments) which covered; communications management, risk management, developing people and managing people in the workplace.

“I’m delighted to have gained this ILM qualification and in the time I set myself!” said Chris Dobson, Health, Safety and Quality Manager for Thompsons of Prudhoe.

“I was looking for a further management qualification, so when I heard about the ILM qualification developed by ARCA, it was ideal. I enjoyed the topics and the challenge. I’d like to thank my tutor, James, who was very supportive throughout the whole process, and my employer for encouraging staff development.”

“Now I’m keen to submit my application for membership to the Asbestos Removal Management Institute (ARMI).”

Steve Sadley, Chief Executive of ARCA, met Chris at the Association’s North East Regional Meeting last week. “It’s fantastic to see the commitment Chris has shown in gaining this qualification in the time he has and the support he has had from our member Thompsons of Prudhoe. I had pleasure in talking to him about the ARMI application process.”
